Dr. David Wiss Announces New Nutrition App Aiming To Improve Mental Health And Eating Disorders

Dr. David Wiss announces the Wise Mind Nutrition app set to be available to the public in the near future. He aims to reach people with eating disorders that do not seek professional help.

Dr. David Wiss has dedicated his entire life to studying nutrition and how it can positively impact people. After several years of education that resulted in achieving a doctorate from UCLA and working with many patients in 1-on-1 settings, his newest project, an app called Wise Mind Nutrition, is something that he hopes will allow him to reach people that might not seek professional help.

Set to be released in the summer of 2022, the app will be focused on a combination of education and daily tasks to help its users understand the importance of what they put in their body and how they think about food. The goal is to improve mental health quality of life.

According to Dr. Wiss, the app can be a more affordable option for people to get professional help in a personalized manner compared to seeing a professional one-on-one. As he only has so much time in a day to dedicate to meeting with patients, Dr. Wiss hopes the app significantly increases his ability to help others.

While Dr. Wiss is attempting to create an automated version of what he does, it is a very complex process.

“Nutrition counseling involves a comprehensive intake and assessment and then developing a treatment plan, which may include counseling services, nutrition monitoring, and functional medicine approaches,” Dr. Wiss said. “The new program Wise Mind Nutrition is a transformative education journey that is video-based, delivered through an app, and tailored to each individual.”

Dr. Wiss’ unique background as both a clinician and researcher has positioned him to not only keep on top of novel methods being developed, but also utilize them with his patients.

“It is rare to find clinicians who are also researchers. Only the most passionate practitioners provide treatment services while also engaging in the scientific process,” Dr. Wiss said. “Those of us who do are committed to making a change in the lives of our patients as well as in our discipline as a whole.”

As many people deal with mental health issues, giving them tools to mitigate struggles in a non-cost-prohibitive manner makes too much sense to Dr. Wiss, who believes in health equity.
